Voice of the Church

Part advisor, part observer, the Voice of the Church exists within the Concordian Senate to ensure that the Senators do not forget their responsibility to both the Church and the Souls of The Concordian people. A difficult position at times requiring tact and at others requiring great personal strength. Great Voices walk in the twin worlds of The Church and Senate ensuring that both councils work in harmony rather than pitting one against the other.

Election

The Voice of the Church is elected every Spring Summit by the Church. Due to the nature of the Church’s schedule, the Voice’s term overlaps slightly, with the Voice of the previous year serving on the first Senate Session of Spring, since the new Voice would not be elected until the following morning.

Term

The Voice of the Church serves a 1 year term, from the second day of the Spring Summit to the Second day of the Spring Summit the following year. There is no term limit and previous Voices may immediately stand for reelection.

Powers and Responsibility

Place - The Voice of the Church shall be provided a seat within the Senate to the left of the Throne. Upon each motion, the Senate will vote whether or not they believe that the motion is relevant to The Church, if the vote passes, the Voice will be allowed to speak as if they were a Senator. The Voice does not gain a vote in the Senate.

Advisor to the Council – The Voice of the Church is an essential advisor to the Council of Six. They are expected to make themselves or a proxy available to each official meeting of The Council, where they are expected to answer questions to the best of their ability. They have Right of Address at the Council of Six.

History

The creation of this title was evident of its need. The position was massed by Church motion during the Summer Summit of 221, however no communication was made to The Senate and as such the appropriate motions enshrining its creation were not made until Winter 222. Since then, the position has served with distinction and grace.
