A Stallia Ceremony - Magnitude 6 - The Star Serpent

Performing the Ceremony

Performing this Ceremony takes at least 2 minutes of roleplaying (the minimum increasing appropriately if additional targets are added). This Ceremony targets a character with the Battlemage skill, who must be present throughout, but need not be one of the priests performing the Ceremony.

This Ceremony is an Enchantment. A target may only be under one Enchantment effect at a time.

Effects

The target character with the Battlemage skill gains two additional hitpoints.

As long as they are enchanted the target experiences a roleplaying effect: The shimmering field of stars that runs through and beneath your skin tingles with the promise of new things, leading you to confidence and a drive to take action.

The roleplaying and mechanical effect lasts until the end of the event.

Additional Targets

This Ceremony can affect additional characters from the same Band. Each additional character increases the magnitude by 4. Additional targets must be present for the whole Ceremony as well.

Description

While the weaving of protective wards and sorceries has ever been a significant field of study for all magi who take to the front lines, this Ceremony ties the personal mana of a Battlemage to the divine essence of their being, and in so doing imbues them with a variety of benefits to protect them. It empowers and invigorates, the physical presence of the mana strengthening skin and bone, but the effect is not simply physical - many who experience this Ceremony have sworn a certain split-second prescience to allow them to better know when to dodge and what to say, which manifests as a confidence and desire for action.

When performed with others in a Band, the effect is even greater, the mingling mana across the bond building stronger personal connection, and a gut instinct about when the other might be in danger on the battlefield.

Performing the Ceremony

While the Ceremony does not strictly need those targeted to do anything to be the beneficiary of the spell, it is commonplace to have those who will take on the blessing to go through the processes of calling up their power to cast a spell whilst within the Sanctified Square in order to best direct the intent of the Ceremony and prepare their bodies for the wellspring of power manifesting more physically within them. This is not to say the spell should be cast, but like a fuse snuffed out at the very end, the mana for the spell should be drawn up as if about to cast it, and then allowed to dissipate back within the body's reserves.
