There are few within The Valley that find themselves without the comforting surrounds of a Borough - those people that live, work and often fight together; those often considered as close as family, with all the warmth and support that comes with that. This is a large part of life within The Valley, yet it is a part that can be difficult to carry to Passage. There are many Heroes who find themselves at Summit without their Boroughs, representing them alone through choice or circumstance. The Reeve of the Reeveless stands with them, proudly providing an avenue for their voices to be heard both in and out of Reeves’ Councils.
Election
The Reeve of the Reeveless is elected at the Autumn Summit. Any Valleyfolk who are not a part of a Borough (Player Group) may stand for the title. Candidates are elected by a popular vote, where the voters are:
- Any Valleyfolk not in a Borough (Player Group)
- The Champion of The Valley
Term
The Reeve of the Reeveless has a term of two Summits (1 year). There is no term limit and individuals may immediately stand for reelection.
Powers and Responsibilities
A Reeve’s Voice - The Reeve of the Reeveless is granted a voice and vote at the Reeves’ Council. While they are ultimately responsible for being the avenue through which the Boroughless may have concerns brought forward, the Reeve of the Reeveless may choose how they go about this during the council, and what exactly they wish to bring forward.
History
Coming about during the Summer Season between 224-225AE as a growth from an unofficial cultural position within the Valley, alongside the formalisation of The Reeves’ Council, the Reeve of the Reeveless stands as a voice of the voiceless. While there are many Heroes who are part of Boroughs in The Valley, often Reeves themselves, such a status became difficult to manage during the Summits of Passage and their Reeves’ Council. The resulting formalisation, naturally becoming more limited, empowered those that had used the powers of The Spheres to formalise their Buroughs with other Heroes through Bless the Warhost or Binding of Hope whilst in Passage.
Yet this empowerment came at a cost; it would create a strange position for those who were Reeves at home but not at Passage, their voices now unable to be thrown into the councils they were so used to. And so the Reeve of the Reeveless would be created, their primary responsibility one of representation. While the future could see their powers and responsibilities shift and grow, the Reeve of the Reeveless would be first and foremost a title that represents the Boroughless of The Valley at Passage during Reeves’ Councils. Not a Reeve themselves, by the rules of Reeves’ Council, but gaining a say and a vote through which the voiceless can be heard. A difficult position, but one that epitomises the culture of The Valley.
