While Monastery's do not normally require a heroic title to support them, the Order of the Sacred Journey was never intended to be a simple monastery, rather it was intended to support and champion the common people who are so often forgotten. With additional powers and staff given to it from the Church, it also came with the powers detailed here.
Election
The Master of the Order is elected by the High Priest of Cervitas. Any priest of The Spheres belonging to any realm may be elected as The Master of the Order. They must accept the nomination and cannot be forced into the role.
Term
The Master of the Order serves a term of two years. There is no term limit, and individuals may immediately stand for re-election.
Powers and Responsibilities
Master of the Monastery: The Order of the Sacred Journey functions as a monastery. However, once a new ceremony has been consigned by the Council of Six, the researched ceremony options will be sent to the Master of the Order, rather than the Council of Six, and it is the Master of the Order’s responsibility and right to select which ceremony will be finalised. It is still the Council of Six’s remit to approve the final ceremony.
Shield the Meek: Once per season, the Master of the Order may select a territory in Resinderholz, The Tribelands, Lerona Mere, Weiland, Vassertal, or Verlorenherz. The Order will be dispatched to this territory to protect non-combatants that have been displaced or targeted by warfare. That territory will suffer less violence and damage towards non-combatants in the following season, less reduced taxation, and if the territory is lost, any investments within the territory may be replaced at no cost during the following summit. Shield the Meek requires the Master of the Order to submit their intention, in writing, to the Curate, and costs one vault, paid by the Master of the Order. It cannot be done in the same season as the ‘Raise Up the Poor’ power is utilised.
Raise Up the Poor: Once per season, the Master of the Order may select a territory in Resinderholz, The Tribelands, Lerona Mere, Weiland, Vassertal, or Verlorenherz. The Order will be dispatched to this territory to bring alms to the poor, construct homes, and provide aid in circumstances of disaster. That territory will have the impact of disasters lessened, will see increased tax income, and damaged tier 1 investments from that territory may be repaired at no cost during the following summit (the investment holders must still visit The Exchange to complete the appropriate bureaucracy). Raise Up the Poor requires the Master of the Order to submit their intention, in writing, to the Curate, and costs one vault, paid by the Master of the Order. It cannot be done in the same season the ‘Shield the Meek’ power is utilised.
Gather in the Light: The Master of the Order does not have an investment while they are the Master of the Order, such is the requirement of life within the monastery. Instead, they count as having a Tier 3 congregation based in The Hunters Wood. This congregation cannot be damaged, moved, or destroyed without the Monastery being damaged, moved, or destroyed. This congregation cannot be enchanted or upgraded. Once they are no longer the Master of the Order, they regain their original investment for no cost.
History
Commissioned in Spring 225, the Order of the Sacred Journey was originally the undertaking of Father Ulrich Felstead, sometimes known as ‘The Blind Priest of Wolstad’ (pertaining to a brief, public, bout of religious blindness in 226AE). Felstead had, in his time as a Concordian hero, witnessed a great amount of suffering on the part of the common people of The Concord, and sought a way for the Church to offer succor and protection. The final shape of this goal was the Order of the Sacred Journey, which completed construction in Spring 226, not far from Ulrich’s home in Wolstad.
