An Arcadian Ceremony - Magnitude 14 - The Warheart
THIS CEREMONY IS CURRENTLY NOT ABLE TO BE PERFORMED
Performing the Ceremony
Performing this Ceremony takes at least 5 minutes of roleplaying. This Ceremony targets a character who must be present throughout, but need not be one of the priests performing the Ceremony.
This Ceremony is an Enchantment. A target may only be under one Enchantment effect at a time.
Effects
The target character gains two bonus hit points and two bonus energy as long as they are wearing heavy armour. They are completely immune to the Fracture call.
As long as they are enchanted the target experiences a roleplaying effect: Your thoughts turn strongly mercenary - the idea of fighting in return for a reward is appealing to you, while the thought of fighting without receiving payment (preferably up front) seems offensive!
The roleplaying and mechanical effect lasts until the end of the event.
Description
Those who become the target of this Ceremony find their skin and bones powerfully enhanced with protective magic. There is no normal physical change, but when they are struck with blunt or breaking force, the affected area briefly turns to bronze, and is only damaged rather than being fully broken; after a short duration, the skin and bones then revert back to their original state, meaning that any wound inflicted only then makes itself known. This strength and surety in the protective nature of the Enchantment allows for its targets to take more chances in combat and spend more of their energy towards the destruction of their foes, rather than their own protection.
Those who are under this Ceremony’s effect inevitably become headstrong and obsessed with the riches they can accrue - they are strong and as hard to destroy as a statue! Why shouldn’t they be sought after and paid well for their services? Who else could do what they could do? Whether or not these thoughts are true and reasonable, they are most certainly Sphere-sent, and entirely unavoidable no matter how generous and self-sacrificing the target may have been before they came under the Ceremony’s influence.
Performing the Ceremony
Drawn from The Warheart, some common ceremonial themes for this involve metalworking or the beating and mending of common metal items. Anything particularly involving bronze specifically - despite its rarity in these days of iron - is particularly desired in order to increase the efficacy of the ceremony. This mending or breaking serves as a cornerstone for the ritualistic elements, all of which performed in the name of the Sphere of Steel.
Commonly these soft metals are found in the substance of coins, and that common theme seems to flow through into the effect as well, with those affected by this ceremony tending to become very demanding about the monetary benefits they expect to receive - even though they themselves are the beneficiary of the power of the Spheres and the work of the priests!
The last part of the ceremony usually involves ritually putting the armour of the target on them, with everyone involved in the ceremony participating in this - to arm and armour the target in both body and faith.
