Spheric Beings of Panoply

From Esterrapedia

Eternals of Panoply

The Coinmaster

Representing the concept of Money as Power, The Coinmaster and its subordinate Heralds embody the hunger for money all the way from the poorest commoner to the wealthiest lord, and all the many ways that power can be bought with coin or the promises of it. Revealing itself in the jingle of coins passing from hand to hand, and the tangy scent of newly minted coins, The Coinmaster is a presence all humanity knows well.

The Esteem

Representing the concept of Social Standing as Power, The Esteem and its subordinate Heralds embody the many intricacies of social interaction and the hierarchies within, as well as the many aspects of its power - from the power of the head of a household all the way up to the court of a King. Revealing itself in muffled whispers, mocking giggles, and the scent of perfume, The Esteem is the tantalising taste of power that is just one more tier of the social ladder away.

The Prominence

Representing the concept of Power Is Power, The Prominence and its subordinate Heralds embody the pure and intrinsic nature of authority, dominion, and the master/servant or employer/employee relationship, and all the complexities and power structures therein. Overt, blatant, and pervasive, The Prominence reveals itself in every command issued and followed, in the crack of the whip, and in the cold circlets, rings, and shackles of iron or gold that denote servitude in one way or another.

Heralds of Panoply

The High

Subordinate Herald of The Coinmaster, The High is the embodiment of wealth and opulence in its most extreme form. Jovial and content, the High represents the goal of all those who seek wealth, and teaches us that to be wealthy is not simply to have money, but to actively use it to live well.

The Low

Subordinate Herald of The Coinmaster, The Low is the embodiment of the hunger and suffering of absolute poverty. Haggard and sallow, the Low represents the suffering but also the ambition of those who are without wealth, and teaches us that true and powerful ambition does not arise in the rich and powerful, but instead burns deep within the chests of those whom life has been unfair to.

The Cost

Subordinate Herald of The Coinmaster, The Cost is a beaten and bloodied man, dressed in tattered rags of once-fine fabric. He embodies a reminder that while your ambitions might take you to great heights, there are always costs to be paid to get there, whether that is by you or the bodies you must step over to rise to the top.

The Whisper

Subordinate Herald of The Esteem, The Whisper is small and unassuming, and frequently goes unnoticed in person, though their effects on the world are always felt after their departure. They represent the power of quiet manipulation, power games in back rooms, underhanded dealings, and quid pro quos.

The Speaker

Subordinate Herald of The Esteem, The Speaker is charisma incarnate, a silver tongued and beautiful being of golden skin and word. Embodying dramatic speeches, power plays, and the many and varied aspects of politics, the speaker is confidence in all senses of the word.

The Promise

Subordinate Herald of The Esteem, The Promise wavers between as stoic and solid as a mountain, and as thin and flighty as paper in a gale. Embodying everything a promise could entail: the relief of a promise fulfilled, the pain of a promise broken, the power of a promise to maintain or completely change a situation - this Herald is many things pulling in different directions.

The Knife

Subordinate Herald of The Prominence, The Knife embodies the wresting of power earned and deserved but unreasonably withheld. Sometimes subtle, sometimes with guile, but often with force, The Knife teaches us to make no apologies about the aftermath of our actions so long as the outcome is just and in our favour.

The Command

Subordinate Herald of The Prominence, The Command is a loud and commanding presence, both in the void between the spheres and when he comes to us. Every command given is an echo within Panoply, and every command followed is a speck of gold upon its surface. He teaches us to follow instructions with vigour, and to make our demands clearly and with decisive intent.

The Magistrate

Subordinate Herald of The Prominence, The Magistrate is the embodiment of the enforcement of the rule of law. Unyielding and unwavering, The Magistrate calls us all to follow and uphold the rules as written, and teaches that as enforcing or changing the law is a display of power, enforcing your law is to enforce your will upon the world. So long as your will is just, your rule will be righteous.

Other Beings associated with Panoply

The Dead Reckoner

Little is known yet by the Concord about the nature of this being, save that it came forth from a Fools Gold Fortress that had been affected in some negative way by an impure Sanctified Square. It seemed to be driven to pronounce Spheric curses on anyone who had an outstanding debt, and made its way to Passage where it accosted a large number of Concordian Heroes before disappearing into the night.

For a year, it roamed the countryside cursing those who had debts, tolerating a following group of people who (against the declarations of the Church) followed it around to help it in its duties - proclaiming themselves the Reckonites. In Summer 224, the Dead Reckoner returned to Passage where, with the support of The Promise, the Heroes of the Concord removed the curse that had inadvertantly been placed upon it.

Further details about it can be read here.

There is still little known about precicely what the Dead Reckoner is, but there is information that entities matching its description and name have been seen across the world and across the ages. It described itself as a 'Spheric Entity', with a task to perform separate to that of the Heralds.
