The Lake Ladure Quarry is a boon born of folly. Sixty years ago, Count Carslile Foxton attempted to dam an offshoot of Lake Ladure to flood a custom made pond shaped like a swan. Count Foxton vastly underestimated the overall flow of the offshoot, flooding his swan lake and much of the grounds of his manor, producing ‘The Lake of Noble Folly and Mathematics’, commonly called ‘Deadswan Lake’. While Count Carslile was seen as a fool, his work did reveal deposits of Arcstone that formed the lakebed that was previously full.

In time, a vast open-cut quarry was built, producing Arcstone for the Kingdom of Bordevar and eventually the Concord. The Quarry occasionally springs a leak resulting in minor flooding from the nearby bulk of Lake Ladure itself and the Spring or Autumn storms can play havoc, but thankfully major maladies have not befallen the location since Count Foxtons initial investment. The quarry employs nearly three hundred workers from the surrounding countryside and produces the Concord’s entire supply of Arcstone at its founding.

There has been some debate over ownership of the Quarry. Prior to The Concord it was recognised as belonging to the Crown, some argue it belongs to its Deed Holder, others believe it should belong to the Duke of Everguarde, or even the people of Everguarde. The Concord appears to have resolved this somewhat with the Exchange claiming stewardship and ultimate ownership of the quarry in line with other strategic resources.

In Summer 222 the Quarry was nationalised to the Kingdom of Bordevar by the Concordian Senate, however issues with the Church Veto stalled the confirmation of this act. As such the nationalisation of this deed remains in question. This nationalisation was repealed before it could be acted upon.

In Winter 224 damage to the surrounding area by the Onyx Aristocracy assaults of 223 and the creation of the Crystal Maw by the Shardcircle produced numerous odd effects on the Quarry. Most beneficial among these was the gradual spontaneous appearance of crystal mana within the quarry, which has also begun to be harvested. As of 226, this harvesting has ceased as the material has become unavailable.
