An Arcadian Ceremony - Magnitude 6 - The Ardent Mind
Performing the Ceremony
Performing this Ceremony takes at least 2 minutes of roleplaying. This Ceremony targets a character who must be present throughout, but need not be one of the priests performing the Ceremony.
This Ceremony is an Enchantment. A target may only be under one Enchantment effect at a time.
Effects
The target becomes supernaturally driven to a glorious purpose. If this character becomes Terminal before the end of the day, they experience no pain from the Terminal status and require no support to move or act (although they still cannot fight or use any skills).
While in Terminal, the character is filled with a sense of final peace, the wisdom of the veteran, and the knowledge that they have achieved their goals. They fade into nothing rather than leaving a corpse behind.
This Ceremony has no effect on characters who are already Terminal.
Description
Many are the Aspirants of Arcadian who fall in pursuit of their goals of perfection and the peak of prowess, but even they are truly blessed for their failings are not their own, and Arcadian sees the intent and honors it. Many, too, are those who are asked in times of dire need to go forth to a task that will surely be their death. Such actions are raised high within Arcadian sects as deserving of song and remembrance, and the Sphere seems to agree.
This Ceremony brings down the Grace of Arcadian on someone, easing their passing to the Journey as painless and magically supported. Individuals under this effect can walk around with shattered legs and their innards practically spilling out of them, and report no more than a weary tiredness in their limbs, before their body simply begins to fade out of view leaving nothing behind.
Performing the Ceremony
Drawn from the powers of the Ardent Mind, this Ceremony is almost universally solemn and respectful, for when it is called for it usually signifies the impending death of an individual who is preparing to take on some great work, or suicidal mission that will most likely not allow them to return. This manifests in their mind after their wounds have become too great for even the greatest of surgeons to heal, a surety of inner peace and a clarity of thought so that those who witness their end may learn from their example.
There have, in some of the more extreme sects of Arcadian, been beliefs that the words spoken by those in these final moments are inherently Divine as the Sphere speaks through the waning soul and imparts its wisdom like a Herald would. Casting this ceremony typically involves invoking some of those powerful words, reminding and invoking the spirit of Arcadian within the breast of those about to march headlong into danger - a final rite for those who will not return.
