The Onslaught of the Broken Moon - The War in The Tribelands

From Esterrapedia

Part of Winds of the World - Winter 222

The Beastlord of the Zekartaal, their high shaman, who once tore the moon from the sky to destroy a castle, marched on The Tribelands, to do what his sister could not. His warbeasts were hungry and he had a city to return to dust. Under the banner of the broken moon he swept in from Villacres. The Concord knew that Brother Ash would bring all his magic to the fore if he was given space to do so. So the War Chamber decreed that the heroes of The Concord would take the Waystone to him and put an end to his schemes.

And they were defeated.

With plans shattered and lives lost, the Concord retreated from the field. With none others to oppose him the Beastlord curled magic around him like a barbed tail and brought chaos to the desert realm. All across The Tribelands the hardy plants that cling to life here rose from their roots with murderous intent. Crawling vines in Obregon strangled refugees fleeing the conflict. A whole olive grove uproots itself in the Agricultural School at Civisello. The land they had called their own draws Andashi blood.

It is at this moment that Ash attacked. With no Concordian armies to defend the heart of Anadash the forces of the Zekartaal flooded the northern reaches of The Tribelands. Hundreds of leagues are lost to the invaders as the nomadic tribal clans flee. Some stand and die refusing to abandon their ancestral lands. Around Abqala, the burial place of Andashi heroes, hundreds die as the Zekartaal claim the blessed pools from their defenders. Zekartaal scouts claim the Tanebar Sea, preying upon the Delver expeditions foolhardy enough to brave the war to continue their search for the past.In the east the raiders flying the Broken Moon cross the True Wilds, the site of a harsh campaign against Sister Oak the Season before with no opposition.

As autumn begins to loom and the days grow shorter a loose frontline is established by beleaguered Jannissaries and Caravan guards. The line where the Zekartaal have reached if not the line where they were stopped. The Salt and Gold roads are this line. Everything north of these arteries of travel belongs to Zekartaal. Everything south holds all who survive. At the centre of it all is Obregon. If the City of Spires falls, then all of The Tribelands will fall and thousands will perish.

As the horizon shifts in the winds, a changing of the guard twists in the cooling hours. She has returned for revenge, for her pride. She will not be cursed again. She will break these little stone people from their little stone hearts and will return Obregon to the sands where it belongs.

Game Information

Unopposed, Brother Ash took two steps of hold over The Tribelands. Brother Ash’s hold is now Stable while The Concord’s is Weak. The Tribelands belong more so to the Zekartaal than The Concord.If the Concord loses another campaign in the region it will fall to the Wartribes. Investments held by the following characters are producing as if they were a tier lower (or half if they are tier one) due to the conflict. Any of these characters can roleplay their flight from their Investment and taking refuge in Obregon or elsewhere as the Zekartaal conquer the region;

  • Isur La-Pedida
  • Shumidriyah Al-Asah
  • Lorenzo El-Obregon
  • Fawz El-Murajil
  • Zoe El-Obregon
  • Celstain El-Andash
  • Talitha El-Andash
  • Arash Al-Andash
  • Drognan El-Andash
  • Talib Del-Stallia
  • Yarrah Al-Jalil
  • Dahab El-Murjil

Other Andashi characters may have tales of assisting the refugees in Obregon and it would be feasible for characters from Mukarrem, Resinderholz or Lerona Mere to have seen or met wealthier Andashi escaping the war in those regions.

As the population of Obregon swells, Priests of the Spheres find that they are ministering to even more people than they could have imagined. All Congregations in The Tribelands will count as being one tier higher if they take the ‘Petition’ downtime action during the Winter Season.

With Obregon under threat the Andashi requirement to give tithe and the drive to defend their homeland are combined. Military investments based in the Tribelands that fight in the Tribelands during the Winter Season will receive resources as if they had completed an independent action as their tithing requirements are met.

The Concordian Pathfinders wish to confirm that there will be a chance to fight Sister Oak in the Tribelands during the Winter Summit as a Major Conflux.
