Overview

The hidden masters of assassins, scouts, and spies in The Concord’s employ, Spymasters command covert operations, schemes, and intelligence gathering across Esterra. Leading their spy networks they make the hardest decisions and walk a fine line between failure and success, between strategic victory and political ruin.

Election

Spymasters are elected every Spring Summit by the Senate. Unlike other titles, Spymasters require extensive secrecy to protect their identity. To facilitate this, Senators either write their vote on a piece of paper or whisper it to the Symposiarch. There is one Spymaster per Spy Network.

Term

1 Year. Individuals may serve as many terms as they wish.

Powers and Responsibilities

  • Mastery: Spymasters are in ultimate control of the Spy Network they lead. Each Summit (in addition to resolving any crises, moments of opportunities or conundrums the network has encountered) they can set the operational guidelines of the network. Each network has its own number of agents and circumstances for those agents. The Spy Master may deploy those agents within their targeted nation as they wish based on the information provided to them. Spy networks that target The Concord focus their attentions on a single region at a time, rather than over the whole nation.
  • Reporting: Spymasters fall under the purview of the Minister of Foreign Affairs. Spymasters are expected to report to the Minister to communicate intelligence so that the Minister can report it to the Senate. The Minister also acts as a conduit for the Senate's Foreign Affairs policy, ensuring Spymasters remain within the intentions of the Senate.
  • Handover: When a new spymaster is elected, the previous one is expected to facilitate a meeting between themselves, the new spymaster, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs to ensure a continuation of intelligence and operations.

History

The first Spymaster of the Concord is a recent election. The Tyrants Curse, a pre-Concordian Spy Network composed of Bordevarians and Greewnwealders sent to investigate the rising threat of the Onyx Aristocracy was successfully exfiltrated from Aristocracy prisons and returned from behind enemy lines in the Summer of 222 after nearly two years of heroics by the group known as The Shadows of The Concord. That Summit, the Senate voted to grant citizenship to the Tyrants Curse and they became The Concord’s first spy network, although their current headquarters and operations remain a secret.
