An Arcadian Ceremony - Magnitude 8 - The Warheart
Performing the Ceremony
Performing this Ceremony takes at least 2 minutes of roleplaying. This Ceremony targets an existing, Damaged Investment owned by a character who must be present throughout, but need not be one of the priests performing the Ceremony.
Effects
Target Damaged Military or Naval Investment is repaired and functions as if it were one tier higher in the coming season. This Ceremony has no effect on Investments that are not Damaged.
Until the end of the event, the owner of the target Investment is affected by a Roleplaying effect: You are driven by a supernatural desire to save or sacrifice yourself for the wounded.
Description
From distant Passage, the prayers and ceremonies reach far and wide, calling with ringing steel and exhortations of strength for those who have fallen to rise once more and take their place among the ranks of the Concord’s defenders. Bones knit, sails stitch themselves back together, and the wounds of pride and mind are carried away as the courage of Arcadian surges back into the brave soldiers of the Investment.
Without necessarily having any warning that this effect is going to take place, many of these recoveries are treated as great miracles and blessings for a time, before the owner of the investment inevitably returns and informs the lucky wounded that their blessings are the effect of a Ceremony. Still, this particular healing has been used on a number of small occasions as an (admittedly underhanded) way of conversion through some particularly intrepid missionaries.
Performing the Ceremony
Drawn from the Warheart, this ceremony is an important one for getting an ailing or stricken area back on its feet after a disaster. Depending on whether the target is a Military or Naval investment changes the actions of most priests in how they go about handling this Ceremony, though not the general aspect of the Ceremony itself. There is almost always either a physical mending or repairing involved, or some kind of surgery or first aid utilized as a key focus of the Ceremony - both to focus the ritual and serve as a powerful symbolic totem for the Grace to replicate.
There have been stories of poor surgeries or botched repair efforts during the Ceremony actually having negative effects on the efficacy of the outcome desired, but these are largely assumed to be overreactions or simply confirmation bias. The individuals or items repaired through the Ceremony often react well when involved in further Arcadian Ceremonies within a short time period, as if they too have been infused with some of the power of the Sphere despite not being its target.
