Of Sharks and Storms - The War in Lerona Mere

From Esterrapedia

Part of Winds of the World - Winter 222

Lerona Mere, a land favoured by the Firebrand has surely lived up to its name. The Shark, one of the Illsevirs most dangerous commanders, marched down into Mivara to claim it as his prize. For his trouble his head was carved from his shoulders and the industrious mountain settlement was saved by Concordian heroes. But the Illsevir are nothing if not tenacious and the Shark’s army marched on. Lead by a new commander, known as The Shark, they attempted to come down from the La Calidez mountains and sack the countryside.

The Second Concordian Army, recently re-bannered as The Valleys Own and under the command of Winfred of the Vale marched to face them.In the foothills of Lerona Mere,Iron Valley huscarls would clash with Illsevir Juggernauts to keep the enemy from taking one more inch of ground. But the Concord is not alone.

The wrath of the Sphere of Elemental Change strikes the ground. The stones of La Lungo Elsa tear themselves from the earth. With blood of flames, bloodglass blades and warcries of echoing thunder the soldiers of storm and stone join Concordian forces. The wrath of mountain, of lightning and of the unstoppable force fall upon the Illsevir.

In strange contrast to their destructive allies, the Valleyfolk take a cautious march up into the mountains. Columns move in full armour ready for battle even if it never appears. Assaults are carefully considered and the enemy is routed, but not pursued. The new general will not allow The Valleys first army to fall victim to recklessness. The soldiers of storm and stone are not perturbed by this approach, rising from the stone wherever The Valleys Own meets the Illsevir

When the dust settles and the mountains reclaim their marauders, the Illsevir have been forced out of the high western places and once again watch Lerona Mere from the far side of the Fiorenza River. But losses have been felt, even with the forces of Anarch aiding The Concord. The Valleys Own is at less than half their full strength, with more than fifteen hundred of their dead scattered across the western hills of Lerona Mere. The most of any Concordian force in any campaigning season to date.

Game Information

The Valley’s Own faced off against The Shark, augmented by the Soldiers of Storm and Stone ceremony and managed to repulse the Illsevir out of Lerona Mere. The foes of The Concord still know of their routes through the mountains and may even attempt to cross the Fiorenza River, but for now Realm is safe.

No Concordian mercenaries assisted the campaign against the Illsevir in Lerona Mere this season, making it unlikely that any large number of Concordian heroes took part in the fighting. If your character is likely to have taken part (perhaps due to loyalty to the Iron Valley army or divine fervour of Anarch) they would have tales of a hard fought campaign, made chaotic in equal parts by difficult terrain, constant losses and the insanity of fighting alongside creatures of stone and storm.

Characters who partake in the campaign may have the following roleplay effect:

“The world seems less set in stone than you have considered before. You reassess the world and your role in it”.

Challenger graces who take part in the campaign may have the following roleplay effect:

“Storm thunder and flaming earth are your lifeblood. You will never accept defeat and will never resist a challenge.”

Thanks to the actions of Concordian Heroes at the Battle of Mivara, the hilly mining town remains largely intact. As the industries of Lerona Mere reel from expecting destruction and receiving salvation the prices of minerals fluctuate wildly. Lerona Mere characters with a Mine investment may opt to have half of their production replaced with currency as they sell off at opportune times, although this number may be slightly randomised. Please email the Concord story team at [email protected] if you wish to do this. Characters with Mine investments who do not wish to do this will receive two additional measures of whatever resource their mine produces.

The Concordian Pathfinders wish to confirm that there will be a chance to strike out at the Sharks retreating forces on the border of Mancante Terra at the Winter Summit as a major conflux.
