Characters have 8 experience points to spend at creation. You do not need to spend all of your points and you can save them for later purchases.
Costs that increase per purchase are separated by forward slashes '/'. For example, a second purchase of the Additional Mana skill costs 2 points.
If a skill has prerequisites, you must have purchased each in order to purchase the skill.

Your character may wear medium armour and cast spells, provided the character is wearing a circlet. You may wield polearms. You may use polearms to deliver any Combat spells you know and may cast a spell even if you are wielding a polearm in two hands. These effect calls must be preceded by the Magic call. They take effect even if striking a shield or weapon. |

| Bloodmage | Magus | You may not purchase this skill if you have purchased the Battlemage skill.
Each day, a number of times equal to Double your Max HP, you may turn your own OR a willing ally’s hitpoints into Personal Mana at a 1:1 ratio. The ratio can change as per the wishes of the Bloodmage (such as 3HP : 3 Mana), but each individual instance of the ability only consumes one 'use' (so in this example, only 1 use despite a ratio of 3:3). Mana gained this way can only 'refill' lost Mana. Doing so requires 5 seconds of appropriate roleplay per point of health lost (15 seconds in the above example). This is considered a Spell/Spellcasting for the purposes of appropriate rules (such as wearing armour). |

You learn the following spells: - Channel Waystone - One Spell of your choice. You gain four mana. |

Some Note on Mana
Characters who have no base mana may have up to 1 Personal Mana at a time through magical effects, consumption of crystal mana or any other method.
This allows a possible (but often costly method) of non-mage characters to cast spells. The standard amount of mana remains 0, this simply allows characters to go up to 1, rather than starting at 1.
Most magic items grant the ability to cast certain spells, but with no way to gain crystal mana, this essentially made them mage-only items. Now, non-mage characters can gain access to them in a simple (albeit VERY EXPENSIVE) manner.
Characters with Magus are still far better at this since characters with 0 base mana will never be able to swift cast (unless they are under an effect that reduces the cost of swift casting) and it is far easier to recover personal mana than it is to get more Crystal Mana.
