An Arcadian Ceremony - Magnitude 22 - The Warheart
THIS CEREMONY IS CURRENTLY NOT ABLE TO BE PERFORMED
Performing the Ceremony
Performing this Ceremony takes at least 5 minutes of roleplaying. This Ceremony targets a Leyline, Mine, Herb Garden, or Wilderness owned by a character who must be present throughout, but need not be one of the priests performing the Ceremony.
This Ceremony is an Enchantment. A target may only be under one Enchantment effect at a time.
Effects
A target Leyline, Mine, Herb Garden, or Wilderness becomes a Military Investment for the next season. Its tier increases by 2. This military force is particularly effective at taking the ‘Support the Army’ action, gaining +100 strength when doing so.
For the remainder of the event, the owner of the Investment experiences a roleplaying effect: You are driven to hoard the resources that the target Investment produces, knowing that it will be scarcer over the next year, and you push others to do the same.
Description
Sometimes, wars are won by the smallest differences, and by the most unexpected people. It is no small thing to ask a skilled labourer or farmer to lay down their tools and venture off into the wilderness to fight for a nation, for they know that they will have no harvest, and a whole pile of work to do on their return, but sometimes the needs of the war outstrip the benefits of production. This ceremony paves the way for this, easing into the hearts and minds of the workers of the target investment the fervour and certainty needed to go into battle with their heads high.
These skilled workers have traits and abilities that army trained people do not necessarily have, and so they are well placed to support an army on the march - whether with produce that they carry with them, or expertise with skills like engineering or camp design; as such, they can be a huge boon to any army they are attached to, before they finally return back to their work at the end of the season.
Performing the Ceremony
One common variety of this Ceremony is to have the priests and the owner of the investment write letters of support and encouragement to the individual workers that will be going to fight, promising them the support of Arcadian and the backing of those who send them forth. The courage and surety of Arcadian flows through the priests, helping them put down just the right sentiment to bolster the courageous fighters as they march forth from their groves or mines and out into the fight. Patriotism, glory, and the protection of their families tend to be strong and common themes amongst these kind of letters.
