An Arcadian Ceremony - Magnitude 15 - The Ardent Mind
Performing the Ceremony
Performing this Ceremony takes at least 5 minutes of roleplaying. This Ceremony targets an item carried by a character who must be present throughout, but need not be one of the priests performing the Ceremony.
At the conclusion of the Ceremony, this item is taken and placed on a table or a gathering place, at which point that area comes under the effect of the Ceremony. Once placed down, the magical object becomes mundane again, and cannot be used to move the location of the Chamber.
The item (and thus the chamber area) must be marked with an OOC note with instructions as to its use.
Effects
Enchants a target area with an aura of introspection that encourages people to speak of their concerns, fears and worries. The target area need not be large but must be at least one tent or a single table in a larger area. In addition, if you spend more than fifteen minutes resting in this location, and have a meaningful conversation about something that has been on your mind, you recover all energy and gain +1 temporary energy over your maximum. You may never have more than 1 temporary energy over your maximum from any source.
As this is an Enchantment, an area can only be under the effect of one kind of aura - any auras attempted to be manifested in an area already containing one simply fail to stick, and must be placed elsewhere. This effect ends at the end of the event.
Description
The Chamber is unassuming, the soft voices of the trio around the table barely audible to those that walk past them, just as the bustle of camp is a muted roar in their ears. Secrets and concerns pass between the warriors as they stretch their limbs and massage their bruised muscles - this camaraderie did not exist between the three before they sat down, and it will linger only a short while after they go their separate ways; but while they sit at this table around the small incense bowl, they are as fraternal as any blood siblings or oathsworn.
A muted space for introspection and rest after the trials of the day, a Chamber of the Restful Warrior is one of the most appreciated gifts that a marching army can possibly receive. The supernatural speed at which fatigue is washed away and mental vigor restored has long been lauded as one of the most important things an Arcadian sect can provide to the war effort - even beyond the superhuman abilities they can otherwise inspire and provide. There’s nothing quite like being well-rested to improve morale, after all.
Performing the Ceremony
Drawn from The Ardent Mind, the Chamber is a ritual steeped in a quiet which does not come naturally to Arcadian. This is fairly commonly done in almost silent contemplation, with perhaps a musical refrain played as a reflection for the participants to reflect on, and then share what thoughts and memories come to light in its wake. The peace found and the insights shared during its creation echo on in the power of the Chamber itself, which gathers the quiet conversation of those who use it and (it is said) carry those back when it fades to echo in the very Sphere itself.
Many rich and powerful individuals of the Concord and in large cities pay handsomely to have one of these made for their personal use whenever they have an event - a place where the overworked or overstimulated at their immense and lavish parties can go to rest quietly without condemnation. While this is a monumental waste of resources, it has spawned a practice wherein these spaces are set aside for quiet resting even when they are not formally blessed; a change very much appreciated by the more quiet-natured in high society.
