An Arcadian Ceremony - Magnitude 3 - The Warheart

Performing the Ceremony

Performing this Ceremony takes at least 2 minutes of roleplaying. This Ceremony targets any number of characters, who must all be present throughout but need not be any of the priests performing the Ceremony.

This Ceremony is complete only when all of the characters have sworn an oath, and completed their warcry.

Effects

The characters who are present, are in the same realm, and consent to do so are joined together magically and henceforth are made a Band. This can be performed again to add more people to the Band at a later date - this requires either the entire Band be present, or at least as many current members as new members for the Ceremony to work.

Description

A spoken oath, a shouted voice, a chorus of words raised high in the sight of the Spheres. These ring loudly, crossing the void and ringing out in echoes of power within the Sphere of Steel as the words are accepted, and souls are bound together.

Like most Oaths performed in a Sanctified Square and under the light of a Sphere, this oath bonds powerfully the parties involved, but this bond of fraternity is stronger than most. Rare is the person who can stand by and watch as those they are bonded to are cut down, much less raise a weapon against their kin in true murderous intent. The essence of martial might press heavily upon those who take part in this Ceremony, for as long as their group remains recognized, and their oaths remain unbroken.

Performing the Ceremony

Drawn from, as might be expected, the Warheart, this Ceremony involves less from the Priest casting it than from the members of the Band to be. The Priest serves as a conduit for the Sphere, through which the words and oath might resonate and be raised high to Arcadian.

Priests need only open the rite with words of praise and prayer, prompt the Band members for their sworn oath, and ask them to raise their voices high in their warcry - anything beyond this is entirely up to the Band itself. Many put great importance on this Ceremony, and will have fights or contests as part of it, or great rituals of shared food or wine. The spirit of martial brother and sisterhood will drive the group together for a great long time to come, and so its beginning is seen as an occasion well worth celebrating as a memory of good times before the trials to come.
