Ambassadors act as the Concord's envoys to foreign nations. They meet with foreign dignitaries, they lead a staff in conducting foreign affairs and act as the expert on relations and information with that nation. A complex role that involves balancing security, espionage, politics and the will of the people.

Election:

Ambassadors are elected at the Autumn Summit in the early part of the year. They are chosen by the Senate.

Term:

Ambassadors serve a term of one year. They will act as ambassador for two summits, including the one they are elected at. They may immediately stand for re-election after this term if they wish. There is no term limit.

Powers:

Briefing: At each Summit, an Ambassador will receive a briefing compiled by their office. This briefing will contain what information the office and ambassador has been able to gather in the previous season in regards to the nation it is assigned to. They will also be able to lead their office in focusing on certain parts of their relationship with their chosen nation.

Treaty: Treaties with foreign powers require a motion to be proposed by a senator that the Concord should ratify the treaty, with any changes the Senate requests. While anyone can negotiate with an ambassador from a foreign nation, only a Concordian Ambassador is granted the power to pen such a treaty and pass it to a Senator in order to be ratified by the Senate.

Delegation: In the circumstance where a foreign dignitary arrives to Passage and a Concordian Ambassador is assigned to their nation, it is the duty of that Concordian Ambassador to accompany the foreign dignitary through Passage, ensuring that they have food, water, accommodation, security and any other reasonable requests made of The Concord.

Representation: The Ambassador is to remain available for summons by the Senate in order to speak on the topic of the nation they are assigned to. They are to maintain open lines of communication with their counterpart. They are to pursue their powers to the greatest of their ability and based on the instructions of the Senate.

History

Shortly before The Concord was founded, The Relazione within Lerona Mere was renovated to be used as The Concord's first embassy. During the first Summit (Winter 221), the Embassy was directed towards The Twinblade Confederacy, with diplomatic contact being opened in the following Summit Summer 221.

During the Winter Summit of 222 an embassy was commissioned in Weiland, following some profitable governance in that region. It will be built within the Old Weiland Town Hall and was directed towards the Dendarr Nations. It will be operational as of Summer 222.

With the collapse of the Twinblade Confederacy, the Embassy in Lerona Mere was realigned by the Concordian Senate to the Trade Principality of Aprivano, making use of contacts made within the city during the time of the Twinblade Confederacy.

During the Winter Summit of 224, the Old Weiland Town Hall embassy was enshrined. Doing so makes it impossible to shift to another nation without being deconstructed, but does reduce its upkeep to one vault a season.

During the Summer Summit of 224, the Relazione was redirected to address the Fealties of Drummond following the outbreak of war with the Trade Principality of Aprivano.
